The Mind-Spine Connection | Video Series (Introduction)

In the last 10 months I’ve spent working with my chiropractor, Dr. Sydne Pomin, to address chronic pain and body alignment, I’ve learned so much about the intricate connection between spinal health and mental health. I’ve been so inspired by this knowledge, in fact, that I wanted to share it with you.

I recently sat down with Dr. Sydne to record a four-part series on the mind-spine connection. This conversation is for you if you:

  • Like to geek out on mental health, behavioral health, and/or spinal health

  • Are intrigued by the idea that our posture and spine can influence our emotions

  • Are curious if you might benefit from chiropractic care

In this series, Dr. Sydne and I explore four common themes, or philosophies, we have each embraced to support our clients and patients. We discuss how we approach each theme from different but complementary perspectives — body and alignment for Dr. Sydne and mental and emotional well-being for me. The themes we discuss include:

  • The value of partnership in our physical and emotional well-being

  • Attunement and the different ways we can pay attention to our bodies

  • How body alignment impacts our nerves (hello, stress and anxiety!)

  • How taking a trauma-sensitive approach helps us understand why our bodies and nervous systems respond the way they do

As you'll see in the videos, the common thread that runs through each of the four themes consistently points back to a question we might not know to ask when we're on the quest for greater health, safety, and ease in our bodies:

How can we be in better communication and conversation with ourselves, and how can we use trusted and safe partners to support us in this quest?

Stay tuned for all the remaining three installments in the coming weeks.

I hope you enjoy watching this series. Leave a comment below sharing your biggest aha moment from the conversation.
